Know The Enemy

Exclusive by Steve Deace for VSA:

Know thy enemy.

In matters of winning and losing, war and peace, life and death, that dictum is vital mother’s milk. If you don’t understand the resolve of your opponent, or the depths of their devotion to the forces of darkness, all the tactics and strategy in the world can still lead you down a road to nowhere.

Or worse.

Neville Chamberlain has become the poster child for inept foreign policy because he either refused to or was unable to see what was in fact real: A demon in human flesh named Adolf Hitler, who wanted to make the world his own with the help of a heaping dose of genocide.

The truth may be hard to swallow sometimes, but that doesn’t mean it is complicated. A wicked opponent who simply refuses to give up can’t be cornered, bargained with or turned toward reconciliation. It is time to kill or be killed, and until that reality is born out the battle rages on in one form or another.

For example, the Mexican drug lord known as “El Chapo” was broke out of prison last week. His loyalists dug a mile-long tunnel to reach the floor under his cell, complete with a motorcycle-track mechanism that could quickly speed him away.

And then, instead of staying on the down-low for a while, El Chapo took to Twitter to spout profanities at Donald Trump for his tough talk on immigration. Why? Because freedom to a man like that is about dominating — no, destroying — any man, woman or child who dares to cross him.

First order of business when he got out of that tunnel: Slit a throat on social media just to let the world know the boss is back. That speaks to a zeal and a boldness that must be respected by any opposing force, if for no other reason than the next time it is confronted in combat there will be absolutely no doubt about how to proceed.

Sweep the leg.

Get him a body bag.

And yes, mercy in this case is for suckers.

Sadly a country as strong and prosperous as ours has drifted into dangerous levels of ignorance when it comes to properly weighing and measuring those who wish to do us harm. Islamic State is El Chapo multiplied by 666. Beheadings. Burnings. Rapes. Drownings. A total commitment to total evil. And how are we responding?

Not only by cutting its forces back by 40,000 troops, but by also making sure more of the ones it keeps have modeled their lives around the psychosis of Bruce Jenner. Yes, folks, the American military not only wants the transvestites and cross-dressers to know that it is cool if they swim in their pool, but it is also considering whether it will pay for gender transition surgery for its enlisted she-men.

Because that’s what really terrifies the Islamic Jihad — a bunch of dandies who have traded in their javelin for a corset.

Know thy enemy indeed. It would seem to be us.

It’s one thing when the everyday republic gives way to the decadence of the mob, but when the military is infected by that virus it’s time to start questioning whether we deserve to exist at all. Our fighting men are supposed to be a people set apart. Dedicated to the craft of warfare and willing to forsake some of the usual blessings of freedom, because they and the public at large understand the importance of standing a post. Somebody has to be there to draw the line in the sand and tell the bad guys, ‘Here, and no further!’ when and if all hell breaks loose.

Perhaps we should have realized, though, that a healthy respect for our warrior class was at risk a long time ago. Many of those who had already given everything but the last full measure of devotion haven’t exactly had the red carpet rolled out for them. According to an internal document recently obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs, more than 238,000 of the 847,000 veterans “waiting” to receive health care through that agency are already dead — meaning they applied for benefits which they never lived to profit from.

So to sum up: Our guys are being told there will be a lot fewer of them to go to war with, that they may or may not be fighting next to someone whose favorite song is “I feel pretty.” And when their body breaks down a less than grateful nation may simply shrug and tell them we’ve changed our policy about leaving no man behind.

Unless you need a sex-change operation, that is. Then I’m sure we’ve got you covered.

Yet there the enemy still stands, doing far more to motivate its soldiers with so much less. They know what they fight for. And while their goals may be vile and sadistic and revolting, they are crystal clear and they are pursued with a single-minded sense of purpose. They don’t care about offending. They only care about victory.

There is simply no way a killing machine can stay on task if it is forced to rot from within via social engineering propaganda that has less than nothing to do with warfare. Even under the best of circumstances, the usual ways of the world are an impediment to producing a focused and lethal military unit.

That is, after all, what the military’s bottom line is supposed to be. Unless Obama negotiated that away, too, in that fire sale he calls a treaty with Iran.
