President Obama’s foreign policy misadventures are no longer just a matter of ideological differences. What the president is now advocating threatens to make the world a substantially more dangerous place.
What else can be said when considering that the President of the United States currently has a cozier relationship with the terrorist regime in Iran than he does with the leader of Israel, who is perhaps our most important ally in the world.
Benjamin Netanyahu just received the most votes in the history of Israeli elections, despite the fact the Obama Regime did virtually everything it could to undermine him during his campaign. He received that resounding mandate after he vowed not to bow to pressure for the so-called “two-state solution,” which given the current state of the Palestinian government would mean establishing a portal for the terrorist group Hamas right in the Israelis’ backyard.
Nevertheless, according to numerous reports in places like The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, the Obama Regime is considering abandoning Israel at the United Nations by no longer using its veto authority to protect Israel from numerous and persistent attacks, which range from the silly to the anti-Semitic. Furthermore, the Obama Regime is considering using the U.N. to increase the pressure on Israel to accept the “two-state solution.”
Leaking that to the media in the wake of the Israeli election results certainly sends a message to the Muslim world, especially when it’s paired with the news the Obama Regime is poised to sign a nuclear arms deal with Iran any day now. Such a deal reportedly would permit at least 6,000 centrifuges.
The message is quite clear: Under Obama’s leadership, the United States will draw a moral equivalency between our allies (Israel) and our enemies (Iran).
Rest assured, our enemies will receive that message as weakness. As if on cue, just two days before the deadline to reach an accord, the Iranians backed away from a “critical element” of the agreement and said they are no longer willing to ship their atomic fuel out of the country – a requirement to make sure it’s not potentially accessible for any future weapons program. Iran is now insisting on retaining the fuel for themselves. Gosh, I wonder why.
In response, Netanyahu is saying the Iranian arms deal is “worse than Israel feared” according to Reuters:
“This deal, as it appears to be emerging, bears out all of our fears, and even more than that,” Netanyahu told his cabinet. Noting advances made by Iranian-allied forces in Yemen and other Arab countries, Netanyahu accused the Islamic republic of trying to “conquer the entire Middle East” while moving toward nuclearization. “The Iran-Lausanne-Yemen axis is very dangerous to humanity, and must be stopped,” he said.
Netanyahu is referring to the latest developments in Yemen, a country that just six months ago Obama was citing as his foreign policy success story. But now Iranian backed rebels threaten to throw the country into outright civil war or even topple it altogether. And all the while Obama is essentially telling the Iranians “if you like your current nuclear program you can keep it.”
So at the same time the Obama Regime pushes the Israelis to give up more land to people who want to kill them, it also seems willing to grant nuclear capability to the Iranians who are threatening to destabilize the Middle East even further.
Throw in the news that former POW Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, whom President Obama traded for what essentially was the Taliban “dream team” last year, will indeed be charged with desertion by the U.S. military. Then add in the blunders Obama made siding with the Muslim Brotherhood in places like Libya and Egypt, and you have a foreign policy track record that would make Neville Chamberlain blush.
President Obama has evolved beyond appeasing our enemies. He is now aiding and abetting them. That is chilling to say but is in accord with his persistent refusal to call Islamic terror by its name after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, and during Islamic State’s bloody march across Iraq.
At best, Obama has decided that Islam is actually one of the victims lying among the carnage because of how its tenants have allegedly been misconstrued by an ignorant West. At worst, he believes Islamic nations and satellites to have such legitimate grievances that empowering them with game-changing weaponry only seems fair.
Either way, reason has been exchanged for madness. It’s only a matter of degree. And Israel is left to watch as the laser site on its forehead grows all the brighter.
