An Oregon veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan was arrested for firing a warning shot at a wanted felon who was breaking into his home.
Corey Thompson, a military veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, cautioned the burglar before eventually firing a warning shot at Jonathon Kinsella as the runaway felon was trying to come in through his backdoor. Thompson’s AR 15 was seized by the police and will only be returned if he is exonerated of the charges. Thompson alleges that the burglar was coming into his house through the backdoor, meanwhile the police allege that the burglar was leaving the house. Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau said “there was nothing that the suspect was doing that was aggressive enough to justify the shooting.
