The Heritage Foundation held a panel discussion entitled: The Obama Doctrine in the Second Term: U.S. Foreign Policy Adrift. the panel featured Henry R. Nau, Ph.D., Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, The George Washington University, Clifford D. May, President, Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and Kim R. Holmes, Ph.D., Distinguished Fellow, The Heritage Foundation.
The panel discussion centered around one salient issue: that President Obama’s foreign policy denies responsibility for America’s special role in the world thus denying the exceptional nature of our country. While President Obama has declared that the tide of war is receding, in fact the world has become more dangerous – regardless of the current occupant of the Oval Office. Al-Qaeda connected terrorism is on the rise, the Middle East is in chaos, North Korea remains openly defiant, and Russia and China challenge the U.S at every turn.
